Sunday School
Sunday School forms the core of Normandale Children's Ministry. We demonstrate our commitment to sharing God's Word with children by:
- offering Sunday School between worship services so families can worship together
- automatically registering all Normandale children for Sunday School
- offering Sunday School for toddlers
- holding Sunday School every Sunday from September through May
- encouraging and supporting adult involvement in teaching
- using a relational, experiential, applicable, and learner-based curriculum
- supporting a yearly faith-marker with parental involvement for every age
- integrating mission into the curriculum
- gathering all ages several times a year to experience the lesson of the day with drama, music, crafts, and food
Sunday School - Our Mission
In Sunday School we follow a 6-year rotation of connecting with the world around us.
We focus on 3 areas—Bangladesh, Peru, and Tanzania—with 2 years on each area. Fall 2008 we begin our focus on Tanzania. Funds that children bring every Sunday will go toward funding a deep-water well for 1,000 school children in Natalawanda, Tanzania.
We are in partnership with Operation Bootstrap Africa for this mission. This organization aligned us with 15 churches in the Alexandria, MN area. This cooperation includes our participation in a walk/run on October 4 in Alexandria. The usual amount raised at this walk is about $10,000. The small 15 churches and Normandale will pool our resources to come up with the $15,000 needed to build the well.
Pastor Dale and Sue Schultz will travel to Tanzania (and especially to the school in Ntalawanda) with Operation Bootstrap Africa next September 2009. This will be my second trip to this school—a school where the sign “Normandale Sunday School Edina, MN USA” hangs outside the door
