High School Hangout

High School Hangout (Grades 10-12)

Wednesdays | 8:00-9:00 pm
Come as you are to High School Hangout! It is a place where all senior high youth can grow in relationship to God and others, and share their unique gifts, talents, vitality, and passion. This is a community where you can bring friends and make new ones. ALL are welcome to join in the learning, loving, serving and worshiping! There will be snacks! Come to the hangout!

Each month we will dig into Normandale’s four core pillars (love, learning, worship, and service) through fellowship activities (Glow-in-the-dark Nuke ‘Em! Gaga Ball! Ice Skating! Bonfires! Bike rides!), small and large group Bible, faith, and life discussions on important topics, experiencing different styles of worship and prayer (and even attend a concert or interfaith worship service somewhere new!), and participate in on or off-site service projects.

Questions? Contact Maggie Jones, Director of Youth & Family Ministry, at mjones@normluth.org.

National Youth Gathering

We’re so excited that it is a ELCA National Youth Gathering year! Every three years, 30,000 high school youth and their adult leaders gather for a week of faith formation known as the ELCA Youth Gathering. Through days spent in interactive learning, worship, Bible study, service and fellowship, young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives. This year, the ELCA Youth Gathering will take place in Houston, Texas. The theme of the 2018 gathering is This Changes Everything based on Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”Read more about the theme and the plans ahead for the Youth Gathering at http://www.elca.org/youthgathering/About/Theme. There are 20 spots available for this incredible experience, so sign up quickly to reserve a spot!

About Houston:
Some might know it as Beyoncé’s hometown, others as the world hub of the energy industry, some for its prominence as the flight control center for all of NASA’s manned space missions, but we know it best as the host city for the 2018 ELCA Youth Gathering! We also know Houston to be a diverse, multicultural metropolis with thriving performing arts and culinary scenes, over 55,000 acres of green space, large and growing international community, and so much more.
