SUNDAY SCHOOL, children at Sunday School

Sunday School

Sundays, 9:15-10:15 am
Sunday School is a gathering of children and adults who share music, learn about God, and grow in faith together. Sunday School meets from 9:15-10:15 am, September through May, for children age 3 years to grade 6. Children meet in a large group setting for singing and in small groups/classes for learning, sharing, and crafts. There is no fee for Sunday School participation.

Sunday School Mission 2016-2018:  Mission India

Over the next two years, our Sunday School children are supporting Mission India.  Outside Ranchi, India, two health care workers, Arvind and Salima, travel to small villages to provide care to village people in need.  Our goal is to raise $5000 each year to support this mission with children's Sunday School offerings. Offerings may be brought to your Sunday School classroom each week.

Sunday School in Worship

Selected Sundays during the Sunday School year are set aside for families to worship together and encourage youth to have an active role in our worship service.

We know that sometimes it can be difficult to make the time, commitment, and effort to worship as a household, and we intentionally provide this opportunity a few times each semester as an important reminder and invitation to continue to make worship as a household a regular part of your faith life together. Youth will be engaged as greeters and ushers and acolytes and crucifers. The children are a blessing to the whole community. Their presence reminds everyone who gathers at NLC that these little ones are members with us and essential to what God is up to in the world.

Upcoming Sunday School in Worship Dates:
April 9, 2017
May 15, 2017

Feel free to choose either the 9am or 10:30am worship. There will be a children's message at both services.

Faith Markers

Faith Markers are a once a year class designed for parents and their children as we fulfill promises made at baptism and walk in our faith journey together. One Sunday per year, a Faith Marker replaces your child’s regular Sunday School class time at 9:15 am and includes worship participation at the 9:00 am service.

Faith Marker events include:

  • Teaching time for parents with their child on an important faith topic
  • A remembrance or take home item to bring faith to life at home
  • Connective experience in worship to mark what was learned

Parents and children receive detailed invitations to their annual Faith Marker approximately two weeks ahead of event.
