Carlson Memorial Library

Need something to read….

Listed below are two book reviews from the staff at The Carlson Memorial Library. If they spark your interest, stopby on a Wednesday or Sunday morning to check them out. A Girl Named Zippy

A Girl Named Zippy: Growing Up Small in Mooreland, Indiana by Haven Kimmel
A real-life story of a happy, smalltown childhood in the early 1970’s. Told from the viewpoint of a wide-eyed innocent child who sees and accepts her neighbors as they are, it is laugh-out-loud funny and touching. It’s a book that will cheer you up. You can find it with the biographies in section 4 of the church library. Gregor the Overlander

Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins
Young readers who enjoy adventure and fantasy will enjoy this trip to a dark land where humans ally with giant bats to fight off giant rats and giant spiders.

Come In For a Visit

library

Please take a moment while you’re at Normandale to step into the library. It’s a quiet place where you can relax and browse.

As you look around the library, you will see a variety of materials available for checkout. These include, of course, fiction and non-fiction books, but also art prints and CD recordings of Normandale worship services.

Children delight in choosing a book from our collection of over 2000 children’s books. In fact, children from the Normandale Preschool are our biggest library users.

Library Staff

Greet the librarian. He or she will be happy to help you find what you are looking for and to answer any questions you have about the library.

The librarians at Normandale are all volunteers. Some are members of the Lydia and Rachel circles.

If you stop by on a Wednesday morning, you will see the librarians busy with the many tasks required to maintain the library.

The Library Mural

The back wall of the library, above the children’s section, is decorated with a beautiful mural illustrating the story of Noah’s Ark. This colorful mural was painted by a Normandale member, Lois Anderson, in 2000.
