Volunteer Call: Serving older adults in 2013

In 2013 we encourage you to consider offering your gift of self—to be a friend to enrich the life of an older adult. You can be the difference between loneliness or camaraderie, between isolation or inclusion. Helping others goes beyond the task at hand. Such service is a recognition of the continued value of each person, no matter the age. As you reach out in service you will develop new relationships, enhance your own sense of purpose, find new opportunities for learning, and even improve your own health.

Consider being part of a relationship-based Care Team, a Driver, or a friendly visitor at The Colony in Eden Prairie. A volunteer orientation training session at the Normandale Center for Healing & Wholeness and a meeting with Sue Schultz (Volunteer Coordinator) will help you discern where your interests and gifts intersect with the needs of the elders and families the Center serves. We seek to match interests and needs and will provide ongoing monitoring and guidance throughout.
