CES (Community Emergency Services)

CESStarted in 1971 through Augustana Lutheran Church (a Normandale founding congregation), CES provides crisis relief that extends Christ’s love to those in innercity South Minneapolis. Located in the Phillips Neighborhood, CES serves low-income households, single-parent families, the elderly, mentally/emotionally handicapped persons, as well as recent immigrant groups. To volunteer at CES, call 612-870-1125.

Some of the ways Normandale helps CES:

  • • Financial: Our 2011 budget allocates $5,000 to support CES.
  • • Foodshelf: Volunteers bring food collected from our members to VEAP in January, March, May, July, September, and November to replenish their foodshelf. Drop baskets are located in the church by the Library, Preschool lobby, and the Canopy entrance.
  • • CES is always in need of hygiene products (e.g., diapers, toothpaste, shampoo, soap) and linens (e.g., sheets, towels, blankets).
