Brightening the Lives of Hospice Patients
- Monday, September 20
- 7:00 pm
- Fireside Room, Normandale Lutheran Church
Stephen Ministry invites you to a heartwarming presentation by Diane Hallock, volunteer with Hospice of the Twin Cities, on the “Holiday Lights & Limos” program she founded in 2008 in memory of her mother. This volunteer program allows hospice patients to view the holiday lights with their families while riding in the comfort of a limousine or wheelchair-adapted bus. Last year alone, nearly 500 patients and family members were able to the enjoy holiday light tours.
Learn why it is important to provide hospice care in a timely manner and gain insight in how you can make a difference in the life of a loved one receiving hospice care.
Please come. This is open to all Normandale members, their families and friends
What is Stephen Ministry?
God never intended for us to go through difficult experiences alone. That’s why He has brought us together as a congregation – and why we have Stephen Ministry. The Stephen Ministry program equips lay people to provide confidential one-to-one Christian care to individuals in both congregation and community who are experiencing grief, loneliness, divorce, hospitalization, disability, job loss, transitions and many other life changing decisions. While the pastors are always on the front lines of care at Normandale, Stephen Ministry provides us with a way to extend its quality caring ministry.
Stephen Ministry is globally with more than 10,000 congregations, 150 Christian denominations and 55,000 pastors, church staff and laypersons trained as Stephen Ministry leaders. Better than 500,000 are trained as Stephen Ministers, and more than one million in need have received care from a Stephen Minister.*
Who is a Stephen Minister?
A Stephen Minister is a member of our congregation who receives special training to provide confidential one-to-one Christian care. He or she listens, cares, encourages, and provides emotional and spiritual support to someone who is facing a crisis or going through a tough time. A Stephen Minister receives 50 hours of training and then faithfully meets with his or her care receiver for about an hour each week. If you are a good listener and a compassionate person, prayerfully consider becoming a Stephen Minister. Over 120 Normandale members have been trained in this ministry.
How Can I Receive Care from a Stephen Minister?
Stephen Ministry is for you or a friend, neighbor, co-worker or relative. Do not go through difficult experiences alone. Contact Pastor Dale Howard or a member of the Stephen Ministry leader team and know the care you’ll receive is confidential, free and very helpful.
