Community Emergency Service (CES)
CES provides crisis relief in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis through a foodshelf and counseling services. NLC has a history of close connection to CES through membership support on the CES board, in volunteer roles at CES, and through periodic congregation-wide donation drives.
Meals On Wheels
Meals on Wheels is a local non-profit that delivers prepared meals to individuals who are largely homebound. NLC supports this local partner by providing drivers 2-3 times each month. Interested in delivering meals once a month, or occasionally as you are able? Please contact Betsy Pfeifer, NLC's Meals on Wheels Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org / 612.306.8999 to sign-up!
Our Saviour's Shelter
NLC supports Our Saviour’s Shelter in Minneapolis by planning and serving a nutritious dinner (either purchased or prepared) on the second Thursday of the month to 45 emergency shelter residents. Join us as we serve our neighbors!
These are the upcoming 2016 dates to serve: September 8, October 13, November 10, and December 8.
Sub-Saharan African Youth & Family Services of Minnesota (SAYFSM)
SAYFSM provides HIV/AIDS education and social services to African immigrants with HIV/AIDS in Minnesota. NLC supports by donating Christmas gifts and back-to-school supplies for kids, collecting necessary household items, and developing personal relationships.
The Sheridan Story
The Sheridan Story provides food to children who are food insecure on weekends when they are not able to participate in free or reduced meal programs at school. NLC currently supports children attending Cornelia Elementary School in Edina.
Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People (VEAP)
VEAP is a local non-profit providing for basic needs in our neighborhood. Food collection is on-going at NLC and goes to VEAP’s Food Pantry. Bring non-perishable food donations to NLC anytime. NLC also supports VEAP with financial gifts from special offerings.
