2011-2012 Sunday School Mission ~The ELCA Malaria Campaign~

The 2011 ELCA Churchwide Assembly overwhelmingly voted to launch the ELCA Malaria Campaign. We join hands with our sisters and brothers in Africa and throughout the world to do our part and end deaths from malaria —for good. Nearly 800,000 people die each year from malaria—most are children under five. It doesn't have to be this way. The disease is completely preventable and treatable. Working as a church, we already have the structure in place to reach individuals and communities that other organizations cannot.

Now Normandale joins the campaign as our Sunday School children raise money to save children and families around the world. 100% of money raised in Sunday School this year goes to the ELCA Malaria Campaign to help provide mosquito nets, health care, education, and more to help those most in need. Visit www.elca.org/malaria or contact Liz Paul to find out how you can help support this year‟s mission. One child dies every 45 seconds from malaria.

With your help, that will change.

Faith Markers

Faith Markers are experiential learning times built around an important faith topic. Once a year, a Faith Marker event replaces a regular Sunday School class for each level. An event includes:

• teaching time for parents with their child on the doctrines of our faith
• a remembrance to bring faith to life at home
• connective experience in worship around what was learned

Faith Markers help fulfill our promises made at the baptism of our children. Parents and children will receive a detailed invitation to their annual Faith Marker approximately two weeks before the event. Faith Marker schedule for this year:
