Youth Summer 2020!
The CYF staff are happy to introduce our virtual summer programming! Although this is not the summer that any of us expected, we are excited about the activities–both old and new–that we will be hosting in an online format. Our CYF staff are dedicated to providing an inclusive, safe, and FUN summer for all of our Normandale youth! This virtual programming will open a space for our children and youth to interact with the directors, summer interns, and one another while protecting our faith community from COVID-19. For all age groups, we will use a mix of “live” virtual programs such as Zoom meetings as well as pre-recorded videos and activities to be watched at your own pace.

Challenge the Interns - 7th & 8th Graders
Wednesdays, beginning June 17 | 9:00 am | NLC YouTube Channel
Middle Schoolers! This activity is just for you and will consist of a challenge that the interns will demonstrate in videos that will be released every Wednesday at 9:00 am. These challenges will vary from week to week, ranging from cooking challenges to possible Minute-to-Win-It games. You will have until the following Wednesday to record yourself doing the challenge and submit it to the shared Google Drive. You don’t have to participate in every challenge, but our interns sure will! Tap into Challenge the Interns to see if you can one-up our college-aged staff, they love some healthy competition!
Middle School Book Club
Mondays, July 6 - Aug 10 | 2:00 pm | Zoom
We are so excited to offer a weekly book club for our middle schoolers this summer! Kids can choose to read Aru Shah and the End of Time by Roshani Chokshi OR The Stars Beneath our Feet by David Barclay Moore. Both of these books are available to purchase online or for check-out from your local library! Members of our CYF staff will lead fun and engaging discussions and activities based on the reading from that week. The goal is connection, not academics. All are welcome at our meetings no matter how much you’ve read!Sign up by clicking the link below. Deadline is Monday, June 29.
This summer, we will continue to offer weekly check-ins via Zoom for our confirmation age kids, sharing highs and lows, a short devotional, and a prayer. Zoom links will be sent to families via text or email.
Bibles and Bagels - 9th-12th Graders
Sundays, starting June 28 | 10:30 am | Zoom
Join us with your breakfast or in your pajamas for high school Bibles & Bagels! The Summer interns will lead the first 4 devotions/conversation, and then we are hoping that youth will take turns leading! We will talk about different tough stuff, ask big questions, and discuss how our faith and communities can help us through.
High School Hangout
Wednesdays | 8:00 pm | Zoom
We will be continuing our High School Hangout sessions throughout this summer! HSHO encourages us to hold on to our faith community, and build connections virtually through interactive games. We will share high and low points from each week, engage in group activities, and strive to grow closer with one another in the midst of our physical separation. All are welcome - we hope you join us!
Zoom links will be texted out. Questions? Want to join in the fun? Contact Maggie Jones at firstname.lastname@example.org.
